PUBLIC RELATIONS AND SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN

Type: Part-time Internship (15-20 hours per week)

Duration: Fall/Winter 2026-2027 (start and end dates flexible based on academic calendar)

Location: Hybrid 

Compensation: $20/hour 

Opportunity:

Fifteen East Media Group is looking for a creative, driven, and digitally savvy Public Relations & Social Media Intern to join our team for Fall 2026. This is a hands-on internship designed to give you real agency experience — not busy work. You’ll be embedded in the day-to-day operations of a communications agency, working directly alongside our Communications Specialist and contributing to live client work from day one.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Own and manage social media content across the agency’s platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels.

  • Develop engaging social media copy, graphics, and short-form content aligned with brand voice and campaign goals.

  • Build and maintain content calendars to ensure consistent, timely posting across all channels.

  • Monitor social media engagement, track performance metrics, and compile basic analytics reports.

  • Assist with media relations support, including research, press release drafting, and media list maintenance.

  • Support proposal development, client reporting, and the preparation of presentation materials.

  • Monitor media coverage and maintain organized clip lists and coverage trackers.

  • Assist with the coordination of events, media briefings, and press activations as needed.

  • Perform general administrative support tasks as needed to support the communications team.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.

  • Potential candidates MUST meet one of the following requirements: ​

    • Be a current NJ undergraduate student OR

    • Be a current NJ graduate student OR

    • Be a recent NJ college graduate who graduated less than one year before the start of the internship experience (May 2025-May 2026 graduates) OR

    • Be a current undergraduate student who is a permanent NJ resident

  • A genuine passion for social media, storytelling, and the communications industry.

  • Strong written communication skills — you know how to write a caption, a pitch, and a professional email.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and how they differ in tone and strategy.

  • Experience with Canva or basic design tools is a strong plus.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks without dropping the ball.

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and doesn’t wait to be told what to do next.

  • Comfortable working independently in a remote/hybrid environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
